I took this photo at the beautiful Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park, British Columbia. My girlfriend and I drove from Canmore, Alberta in the morning to spend a day out in BC to do some sight seeing and get out on a canoe.Time
We got out on the lake around the mid afternoon in between 1-2 pm and spend about an hour on the lake paddling around and taking photos.Lighting
I wanted to make sure that the sun would be out of frame so I wouldn't have any problems with over exposure in the sky because it was a beautiful day with some nice clouds passing by. With that in mind, I framed the foreground and landscape to capture a point of view perspective of how majestic this place really is.Equipment

I've seen some beautiful pictures of this lake and incredible portraits in canoes with the mountains and bodies of water that are just breathtaking so I just had to experience it for myself. I could spend a lifetime in places like this taking photos. Hoping to get back out west as soon as possible to explore and take more photos.Editing
Some simple editing in lightroom was done, minor adjustments to the framing and some added contrast and highlight adjustments to make the image pop. I try to do as little as possible in post and as much as I can in camera so when people are viewing and experiencing the photographs I take they can feel as if they are seeing it through their own eyes.In my camera bag
I normally carry a few prime lenses, 100mm macro, 50mm, and my 35mm is normally on my camera. My lee filters 100mm filter kit with my big stopper and nd filters. Air blower to clear dust off, lens cleaner and some kim whips. My leatherman multitool, a flashlight, headlight, camera bag, remote trigger, some times my lens ball and my tripod is normally with me as well as my camera strap.Feedback
Preplan your destination and figure out a time of day you want to shoot at, how much time you expect to spend there and how much its going to cost to do the adventure. When you get to the destination, look around and get familiar with your surroundings. Always take lots of pictures with different angles and exposures and don't be afraid try to do something new.
