A portrait of my girl holding onto this little pumpkin she decided to pick up and model for a few shots in. She was just checking her nails out because I think she got dirt under them and I continued to snap away and ended up really liking the way it turned out. For me the best moments in my photos are the ones that are natural and unplanned.

I took this photo at the legendary Downey's Farm in Inglewood/ Caledon area of Ontario.Time
My girlfriend and I got there at a decent time I want to say right around 10ish so we could avoid any crowds or people. We also went in the middle of the week when there wasn't a lot of people trying to take photos because this place get's pretty busy around pumpkin picking time.Lighting
I got lucky and for the most part we had overcast with breaks of sunlight so I didn't have to worry much about overexposing.Equipment
I was using my canon 5d mark iii with 35mm lensInspiration
My girlfriend and I wanted to get a few pumpkins to carve for halloween and I had known about this spot for a while. I had seen a bunch of nice photos people had taken at the farm I wanted to check it out myself and take a few photos for my gallery. I told my girlfriend to wear something sexy and folk like so she came up with the outfit and we went picking for pumpkins. My girlfriend isn't a model and she tends to get pretty camera shy and unaware of what to do in front of the camera so I find myself directing her on what to do but she was actually looking at one of her nails that she had hurt trying to grab a pumpkin and I was just snapping away and caught her in the moment. Which is normally when I capture the best portrait photos I find.Editing
Not to much post work on this photo just some simple fine tuning and processing. In my camera bag
I will normally carry my lee filter 100mm accessory, big stopper, nd grad, leatherman, lensball, lens blower, 50mm lens, 100mm lens, 35mm lens, canon 5d mark iii, lens pen, lens cleaner, flashlight, batteries, timer remote control, business cards, 3 batteries, battery charger, rain cover, kim wipes, tripod, camera strapFeedback
go out with an idea of what you're trying to accomplish, look at other photos that inspire you and see what you can do different or even similar and go and do it. take as many photos as you can and make people feel comfortable when they are in front of the camera. when things/ people feel natural they can make things look more authentic
