Behind The Lens

Location
I took this image from the roof of the Queens Hotel, Leeds, West Yorkshire.
Time
It was taken over dusk and a series of images then and blended.
Lighting
I used 2 images one from when there was still light in the sky and another when wit was darker, then blended in the details I wanted. I also created the car trails in photo shop and added them using various filters and transformation warps.
Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D810 24-70mm lens, Gitzo tripod.
Inspiration
I love cityscapes especially at night and wanted to capture something from height around Leeds.
Editing
The image is a hand blend of two exposures in photoshop using masks. I have also created and added the car light trails for a bit of extra drama and interest. (There are one or two car rails from the actual shoot showing but I wanted to improve on them)
In my camera bag
My kit comprises of a Nikon D810, Nikon D800E, Nikon f2.8 14-24mm lens, Nikon f2.8 24-70mm lens, Nikon f4 70-200mm lens and 3 Nikon SB910 flashguns.
Feedback
Arrive early and search for a wow factor angle. Use a tripod and try to avoid moving the camera in any way. Use bracketing and a cable release. Shoot images from as it starts to get dark or when you see amazing skies through to complete darkness. When post processing take your time to access the images that work best together so you can combine the most striking elements of each.
