Love the picture! Did you have to take any precautions with your camera so that the arc didn't not hurt the sensor? Thanks

Awesome picture. My boyfriend is a pipeline welder. This reminds me of that, looks very similar too. Congrats on the runner up win.

No way! That's so cool with the multiple light temperatures mingling with the vapours. Neato.

Love the composition and the post processing on the image specially the different colour temperature. The mist is like a cherry on the cake. Great work MATE

Being a welder I know the intense light given off. Amazing how you’ve captured it without the rest of the photo drowning in it. Spectacular!

Location
The photo was taken during an evening stroll in the winter St. Petersburg. On one of the streets took place repairs of heating. Initially, workers did not like that I photograph them. Probably afraid that I am a journalist and I'm going to write some critical article. But when they learned that I was simply interested in a beautiful lighting effect welding through the steam, they were inspired at once, and even offered to make any statement. But I bounce.Time
It was evening, I returned home after the shooting Epiphany bathing: around the city of St. Petersburg in the Neva River was made the hole, and the visitors could swim in them by religious custom. Seriously froze and in anticipation of a hot cup of coffee, I headed toward the house, he saw steam coming from the partitioned section of the road. It was very interesting that some people bathed in cold ice-holes, and the workers were inside the hot steam.Lighting
Due to sufficient bright light from welding, I was able to set the shutter speed and not worry about the possible blurring. It remained only to shoot in those moments when working with welding worked and it lit up all around.Equipment
This was shot on a Nihon D3s, with an Nikkor 24-70 2.8. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
A shot was accidental, because I was not prepared for such a survey. Fortunately, there was enough time to find the right angle, and waiting for the right moment.Editing
Reportage and genre photos usually require a minimum of correction, so in this case I just worked with RAW, which was made by a frame made of color brighter and more saturated, and stretched texture of smoke and steam. In my camera bag
Usually, when I go out on a photographic walk around the city, I take the "reportage" kit. It includes Nikon D3s (although now I started using Nikon Df), Nikkor 80-200 2.8, Nikkor 24-70 2.8, Sigma 15mm 2.8 Fisheye, and Nikkor 50 1.4. With such a focal length and aperture I can take pictures of practically any urban plot at any time of the day.Feedback
Just wait for the right moment. During the renovation work you can perform the desired action repeatedly, so much a frame around the person may change. Moreover, at some point you will understand the procedure and its dejsvie can anticipate much.
