Location
The photo was taken in 2008, in the city of Pskov, Russia. It was the students' summer camp.Time
The photo was taken at sunset. In the camp we played role-playing game, the girl in the photo landed the role of a dancer, because he knew how to dance, and she had the right costume. When the game came to an end, I offered to take some photos on the beach.Lighting
Every day the sky in this place is painted in amazing colors during sunset. This day was no exception.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D300, with an Tokina 16-50 2.8. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
For more than 10 years I'm doing photography in this camp. And every year I try to come up with interesting pictures. Inspired by the costumes of the girls as well as its ability to beautifully jump, I decided to try to make this image. After a few takes I was able to catch the right moment.Editing
I cropped the photo to remove all the excess out of the frame, slightly increased contrast and put yellow on top, so that only the colors of the sunset, and clean blue sky.In my camera bag
Usually, when I take pictures in summer camp, I take the "reportage" kit. It includes Nikon D3s (although now I started using Nikon Df), Nikkor 80-200 2.8, Nikkor 24-70 2.8, Sigma 15mm 2.8 Fisheye, and Nikkor 50 1.8. With such a focal length and aperture I can take pictures of practically any camp plot at any time of the day. In 2008, I was limited to Nikon D300, Nikkor 85 1.4D and Tokina 16-50 2.8.Feedback
You must first check that the water is not concealed stones and dangerous objects, which could damage the model. When shooting for the site is secure, you need to make a couple of test doubles to understand whether the model can do what you want to photograph. If all is well, you just have to find the right point of shooting, lock the focus on the right place and to shoot a series of pictures to have a better chance to catch the right moment.
