One sees many photos of hot air balloons but rarely from this pov. Wonderful!

Location
While visiting a festival in Northeast Pennsylvania.Time
It was morning when the balloons began to launch...a bit after 9 a.m.Lighting
The cloudless sky was a beautiful blue...offering brilliant color.Equipment
At the time I was shooting with my Nikon D5100 with a 55-300mm Nikon lens.Inspiration
I enjoy attending the many festivals in the region during the spring and summer months. This particular day was nicer than many this year. I look for balloons with lots of color or shape or design. In this case it was all about color.Editing
As the balloon lifted I bracketed exposures and zoomed for a variety of compositions. A slight crop was all that was necessary. In my camera bag
Whenever I go out for this kind of shooting I plan my approach as to which lens is going to tell the story I want to capture for the day. Walking around fairs and festivals for long hours with heavy camera, lens, and equipment becomes a burden and takes away the fun.Feedback
Depending on the importance of the project, I recommend carrying light, maybe just camera and tripod. In shooting balloons consider your approach before you go. A wide lens tells a different story than a long telephoto. Go in with a plan. It helps you focus, if you know what I mean! And have fun!
