In Flight Photo Contest Winners Announced
Thank you to all the photographers that shared their best photos showing subject in flight in this photo contest with chances to win a Sigma Lens and more. A special thanks to our friend and professional photographer Jessica Ambats for his collaboration as a guest judge. Jessica Ambats is an award-winning air-to-air photographer and a multi-engine, instrument-rated pilot. She is editor of Plane & Pilot, a monthly magazine devoted to personal aviation. She was awarded the top designation of "Best of the Best" by Aviation Week & Space Technology. Jessica's aerial photo adventures have included landing on the Greenland ice sheet in a Lockheed LC-130, delivering emergency supplies to earthquake victims in Haiti, and flying formation aerobatics in an F/A-18 fighter jet with the Blue Angels U.S. Navy demonstration team.
"This is a very dramatic capture that tells a story! The scale gives a sense of how powerful the water is, and the cliffs on both sides provide context. I love that there’s an exciting story (with a happy ending) behind the image. One critique would be to use a slower shutter speed to blur the helicopter blades and provide a sense of motion." - Jessica Ambats
