Location
Don't have much credit for effort on this photo... I was in the comfort of my home on a rainy day. Noticed this cute ladybug by the window, carefully brought it to my yellow chrysanthemum potted flowers on the kitchen table. It seem happy and content so I quickly grabbed my tripod and camera to capture the moment. It turned out to be more like an hour of fun with a photogenic ladybug.Time
Must have been close to 11 amLighting
Privileged to have lots of natural light coming through my windows in the kitchen/dining area. Once the apron is hung on the hook the kitchen is transformed into a photography studio. Depending on how much light I need I have the option of using my island or my huge kitchen table. For this particular shot I was on the table. As I mentioned, although a rainy day, I had great diffused natural light entering from the east window.Equipment
This was captured with my Nikon D90, with an 18-200 lens and my tripod that's it!Inspiration
This shot was not planned it simply happened. I guess the inspiration came when I had the ladybug on my finger and reached out to put it on the chrysanthemum flowers sitting on the kitchen table. The combination of the contrasting colours, the happy subject and the light were all very good so I quickly grabbed the camera and the rest is history.Editing
I always do a little post processing in Lightroom such as adding clarity and a bit of contrast. That's it for this particular shot.In my camera bag
I carry knee pads, reflectors, a few other lenses such as a 50mm, 85mm and a 70-300, a tripod and extra memory cards along with an extra charged battery.Feedback
Although I do like to plan, research and organize before I shoot...The advice here is to capture the moment. Be open to improvise in situation that are not necessarily planed. Most of my favourite photos were captured in a moment's inspiration. Simplicity, form, colour and balance are my gauge to composing my photography. I keep it simple and let my instinct guide me. Of course, enjoying every moment and learning as I go.
