Location
I took this photo while canoeing on the Gatineau river in Wakefield, Quebec in Canada.Time
Yes, this is definitely one of my favourite photos taken early morning while canoeing with a friend. It must have been around 9 am on a beautiful summer day as the mist is lifting.Lighting
I knew this would work if I shot directly facing the sun and capturing the reflection in the water. No wind or waves just beautiful reflections. The timing of this capture with the sun positioned directly at the tree top makes it magical.Equipment
I used my trusty Nikon D90 camera, 18-200 lens with no tripod or flash.Inspiration
This photo was taken in my living environment and I find its beauty is often taken for granted which is why I wanted to capture the surroundings while canoeing. It represents a relaxing moment, that I can remember for ever and share with nature buffs.Editing
Very little post-processing... A touch of levels adjustments and brightness. Created a duotone with black and sepia tones. In my camera bag
Minimum equipment, I usually decide before heading out what type of photos I'm off to capture. Depending on my mission there may be more or less lenses, sometimes a tripod/flash but always my knee pads... I like to go down on my knees to capture closer details or a different optic.Feedback
Enjoy the moment and don't get bogged with detail. Have a plan on what you want to capture and just do it! Beware of light/sun... it either makes or brakes the photo.
