I work at CBS News and when winter winter weather threatens they put me up in a hotel. I use the available time to walk around and capture scenes that are there everyday. We often miss the everyday beauty that surrounds us. I was walking on Central Park South and I saw the bikes in the snow looking cold.Time
It was about 6pm I think, the day before another snowstorm. As you can see there were many snowstorms that year.Lighting
Everything you see is what was there. I used natural lighting, the city lights, car lights, reflecting off the snow.Equipment
My camera is a Canon 5D Mark III Canon 24-70L II USM lens.Inspiration
A coworker of mine told me to walk around and just shoot to relax from the daily grind. It was the best piece of advice I think I ever followed. I was walking around and there were these rental bikes sitting unused.Editing
I don't think I did any post, maybe brought up the saturation a little, I use Lightroom 5.5.In my camera bag
I always carry my 5DIII, my 24-70 2.8, my 70-200 2.8 and maybe my Canon 7D.Feedback
There is so much beauty in everyday scenes. I have many shots from that night... https://www.flickr.com/photos/brasil_soccer/sets/72157641338556864/ But I also walked around in summer and captured summer shots and summer in the city.
