Nice composition. If you had some editing software you could have really made this stand out.

Location
I've traveled to Alaska twice and have taken many photos of the Hubbard Glacier. This photo was taken from my stateroom balcony on the cruise liner.Time
We reached the glacier in the early afternoon before the sun became lost behind the mountains.Lighting
The lighting for this shot was au naturel. I remember hearing the announcement telling us that we were lucky as it was a beautiful sunny day and the sky was clear of the fog that normally covers the glacier and mountains.Equipment
This photo was taken with a Nikon D70 set on manual mode.Inspiration
The cruise liner spent a considerable amount of time along the glacier. I took advantage of this and ran back and forth from my stateroom balcony and the ship's deck to take many many photos from different angles. I liked this shot the best as it showed the majestic quality of the Hubbard Glacier with the mountains in the background. Everything was so blue, so peaceful; a rugged surreal wilderness almost untouched.Editing
No post-processing was done to this photo. I liked the image as it was the way in which I remembered the glacier. In my camera bag
I normally carry two cameras with me; a small Lumix that easily fits into my pocket and a Nikon D90. I use them interchangeably.Feedback
I probably took about 50 photos of the glacier. The conditions for taking the photos were perfect and I knew that not all of the photos would turn out as I was trusting my arms to be a tripod. I always take as many shots as I can when I come across a scene that moves me.
