Exploring remote places is one of the most rewarding things to do as a photographer and for this photo contest, we challenged you to show us the most remote places your lens has been able to capture. From mountain tops to vast deserts that stretch longer than we could ever imagine, this contest is for exploring our planet in ways never seen before.

A special thanks to friend and professional photographer Jack Anstey for his collaboration as a guest judge in this photo contest. Jack is an outdoor and adventure photographer from the UK, living and working out of his campervan, usually in the Scottish Highlands. With a love for the natural world, mountains, wildlife, and remote landscapes, Jack finds himself naturally drawn to Northern landscapes.

People's Choice
Grand Jury Winner

"This perfectly captured the Remote and Isolated concept to me. This lonely, small and traditional cabin situated amongst these tall snowy peaks really gave me the sense of a distant and secluded landscape. I also enjoyed the minimal and simple color palette, which I thought made the image even more striking." - Jack Anstey

Runner Up

"Few places feel as remote as the top of a mountain, especially if you’re planning on starting the night. The sun goes down and you know you’re completely alone until the morning - for those dark hours no one else will be ascending the mountain and you’re going to have it all to yourself." - Jack Anstey

Runner Up

"I like the foreshadowing of the darkness and the approaching night in this shot. I feel that with the sun tucked into the top corner, and so much darkness present in the lower right, you can really feel as though these are the last few moments of light. The open and wide landscape surrounding the single solitary feel really gave me the feeling of a remote location, with nothing else for miles around." - Jack Anstey
