Location
This photo was taken in Sintra, Portugal.Time
It was about 2 pm.Lighting
The light in Portugal is very strong in summer but I took this photo on a wonderful sunny winters day. Light is great for photography at that time of year!Equipment
I have a Lumix DMC-TZ100, all my photos are taken with this little miracle of a camera...The best thing about this camera is that it has a good Leica lens and it is very easy to carry with you because it practically fits in your back pocket. I didn't use any extra equipment, I took the photo spontaniously free out of hand.Inspiration
I don't like to party so much... so I went for a walk at the last day of december to take some photos and reflect on the past year when I saw this little firework flower struggling to come out of a dead tree... I thought it was perfect to represent New Years Eve. The flower was about 7 mm. tall, very small but very powerful! I tried to make the flower stand out from the background, only showing the wood it grew from within the whole frame.Editing
I did very little post-processing in Lightroom, only to enhance some details but the photo is allmost as it originally was when I took it. The colors of the flower aren't edited, they were realy this wonderful! In my camera bag
I don't have any equipment in my bag (yet) I am a beginning photographer and I am learning to use a camera, to look for the good light, composition and point of view. One day when I know how to use and set the camera well enough, I will start to think about a bag filled with technical things instead of the need to understand how it works first...Feedback
The only advice I can give you is look around you for all the wonders the world has to offer, enjoy the beauty of the world we live in... For me capturing nice shots is a matter of trying to isolate nice subjects without forgetting the whole picture... The choice of a background is very important to put the subject in a context or to make it stand out better. In this case I tried to show the struggle of this little beauty growing out of a dead tree. I choose to show only dead wood in te frame because I wanted to focus all attention on the colorfull flower. Take more shots with slightly different settings so you can choose the best one later. Once you open your laptop, the magic of today's world begins... I always crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop and edit the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!
