Evocative. I like play of the strong diagonals in the rock and the soft barely perceptible diagonals in the sky. The light in the sky and water and the energy from the surf.

An excellent shot, weirdly shaped rocks and atmospheric drama included. Congrats on your Win! :)

Location
I took this photo on the Adraga beach of Almoçageme, Portugal.Time
It was at the end of a cold day in december.Lighting
The light was just great... heavy clouds, a bit foggy with a rough sea and the sun was trying to peek through, creating nice highlights.Equipment
I didn't use any equipment other then my wonderful little Lumix DMC-TZ100.Inspiration
It was a strange day, a bit foggy with wind and a rough sea with some sunrays shining in between heavy clouds. I wanted to show the mystery of the Adraga beach in Almoçageme with her high pointing rocks and the waves clasing into them!Editing
I did the post-processing in Lightroom. I wanted to create a dramatic and mysterious atmosfere, just like this beach is in winter; surprising, rough and mysterious. I added more shade and clarity to make it more dramatic. The waves and the foreground got more light and highlights and the background is a little faded. I also darkened the clouds a bit to finish the composition. In my camera bag
I don't have any equipment in my bag (yet) I am a beginning photographer and I am learning to use a camera, to look for the good light, composition and point of view. One day when I know how to use and set the camera well enough, I will start to think about a bag filled with technical things instead of the need to understand...Feedback
Water allways creates nice reflections and lively motion and I thought the contrast of the pointy rocks in the sea created a wonderful depth to the image. I placed the horizon about one fifth from the bottom to create a nice wide composition with the heavy contrasting clouds. Diagonals play a big role in this composition, I was very happy with the wave that splashed in the opposite direction to break the rhythm. The low point of view is very important when you are taking a photo like this one, don't be afraid to get your knees wet. If you look at a subject to photograph, you have to try to realise what you want to achieve, Try to find the good light, the right point of view and the best composition... And most of all, take more shots with slightly different settings so you can choose the best one, once you got home and opened your laptop, the magic of today's world begins... I allways crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!day when you can have a fresh look at them!
