Location
This photo was taken during a shoot with my wife at the Stirone stream park near fidenza, in Italy where I live. It is a quiet place where photo shoots can be easily organized.Time
It was sunset and the ball that you see at the top right is actually the sun filtered by the plants behind the subjectsLighting
I often take this type of backlit photos that create a fairytale halo around the subjects, I shoot them just before sunset so that the light becomes more reddish. I then use a flash against the subjects to balance the light and have a correct exposure on the faces of the people portrayed.Equipment
For this photo I used the samyang 135mm f2 which is an excellent portrait lens that allows you to have a beautiful bokeh effect and a great definition on the in focus parts of the photograph. The camera is the sony a7ii and the shot is freehand. There is a flash with softbox on the subjects to balance the backlight.Inspiration
I liked the intimacy between the two mothers and the baby. At that moment the girls were singing a song for the little girl, it was a moment of indescribable sweetness and I could not help but try to shoot trying to capture the magical moment.Editing
In reality this is a shot with very controlled light so I only perform some embellishments on the photo, no exaggerated change. I improve the colors making them more consistent with my style, I emphasize lights and shadows to make the photo more pictorial, the girls are young, I have not done anything on the skin.In my camera bag
For this type of photography I usually use a fixed, fast telephoto lens and a softbox flash mounted on a stand close to the subject.Feedback
To do this type of photography I recommend a quiet place, the sunset light and try to shoot against the light or with the sun on the side. The rule of the sun always going in front of the subject is a real hogwash. I believe my best portraits are all with the sun in apparently wrong positions.
