You sure got nerves standing there. Rewarded with this amazing photo I lived in KY and was exposed to tornadoes - I go to the basement. TY for sharing.

amazing shot...trippy, but looks like a baby in the clouds, to the upper right of the tornado. :)

Oh my! I was watching The Making of The Wizard of Oz and they explained how they made the tornado. I know that your photo is real, but what they did was to take chicken wire and cover it with nylon. That vision absolutely thrilled me with fear, just as your real life photo!!!

Just by looking at the picture I can feel the power. I figure that is what makes a great picture, making the viewer feel as if they are there....thank you.

Wow! I really love the tonality and the monochrome nature, or the feel of it, then the subject matter is so fantastic

Location
This picture was taken near Dodge CIty, Kansas in the United States.Time
This was taken in the afternoon on May 24th 2016.Lighting
Lighting was incredibly perfect. This was a dream come true. Since we were on the south side of the storm, the sun was at our back and provided the perfect lighting towards the storm.Equipment
Canon T5i 18-55mm lens. Did not have time to put down the tripod for this one due to the storm moving away from us.Inspiration
Tornadoes and severe storm are fascinating in my opinion due to the fact that the sky is always changing. You can take a picture in 30secs interval and the sky will have dramatically changed! This gives unique photography, even if there are hundreds of people there, it's rare you will have the same shot as someone else.Editing
Some simple clarity, saturation, vibrance boost and some filters to clear out the grain and make the blueish colors "pop"In my camera bag
55-250mm lense with Canon T5i with seinheiser microphone, multiple batteries and SD cards. Also, another Canon T3 Rebel.Feedback
Make sure you find a unique foreground and landscape, this is what makes a great tornado picture stand out from other peoples picture. In situations like this, hundreds of people are taking the same picture, so make sure yours is truly unique!
