I love the colors & the content. It is very beautiful. It doesn't look real. How do you get your photos to look like this? I'm sure there is some editing involved. I'd like to know because my photos never look like this. Beautiful!!!

Location
Saltwick Bay is a place I go to regular for sunrise shots but I have been wanting to try a sunset shoot with the wreck in the foreground and the sun setting behind it for some time the trouble is it being on the East coast of the UK the best two months for this are June and July when sunsets are more to the north but either work, weather or the tide had been against me but on Saturday 13th July Sunset was about 2.5 hours after high tide the weather forecast looked pretty good so off I went.Time
I got to Saltwick Bay at about 7:00PM there were two other togs on the beach and the tide had not gone out as far as I would of liked so I nearly changed my mind thinking I would be better off going to Whitby but the sky looked to be shaping up nicely with rain out to sea so I made my mind up to stick to my original plan once I got onto the Beach I could see that with a bit of scrambling over the rocks that go round the edge of the headland I would be able to get where I wanted to be at the wreck of the Admiral von TrompeLighting
Lighting conditions were quite tricky with it being quite dark and the sky was brightly lit so I used a Lee 0.9 graduated ND filter to reduce the brightness of the afterglow and lift the foregroundEquipment

I have been to Saltwick bay many times but always at sunrise and I always wanted to capture a sunset which only happens for a couple of months a year and on this day weather and tide were looking favourable it was quite cloudy but colouring up nicely just above the horizon so I got set up and waited and I was rewarded with some stunning light when the sun dropped below the cloudsEditing
First it was imported to lightroom to set the camera profile and correct some lense distortion before reducing the highlights a fraction and lifting the shadows once this was completed I exported to Photoshop to set threshold for black and white also to reduce saturation a fraction then I reduced noise with my neat image plugin lastly the image was sharpened using a high pass and that’s itIn my camera bag

Careful Planning and preparation always make things easier on location and although I went for specific shots I always look around for different aspects or patterns that I can use in my images, I have been to Saltwick Bay many times but the light is never the same twice I always like to get to a location early so I can look around for points of interest or unusual compositions but you just have to capture the one everybody shoots as well
