I love the balance in the the photo between mountain and man. Makes my eyes jump through the photo. Nice shot!

Location
This was taken at the bottom of the vallée blanche glacier In Chamonix France, just before it flattens off and becomes the mer de glace (Sea of Ice)Time
I think this shot was taken at about 10am after starting skiing a couple of hours earlier.Lighting
I really like the dramatic lighting in the clouds. From what I remember the weather wasn’t too bad that day or we would not have been there.Equipment
This was taken with a canon 7d mark ii and a 24-70 2.8 lensInspiration
It’s such an unusual location and really looks like it belongs on another planet but in reality it’s pretty easy to get to.Editing
There was a big metal cable stuck in the ice in the foreground which I edited out in photoshop and I also edited the colours to create more drama. In my camera bag
Now a Sony A7riii, 24-70 2.8 GM, a 70-200 2.8 GM. That’s heavy enough for most of the sports I do. Occasionally I may take a flash and if I’m glacier skiing I’ll take extra clothes, avalanche beacon, avalanche airbag, shovel, probe, Ice axe, crampons, rope, crevasse rescue equipment, food and water. It can make the bag pretty heavy with all that.Feedback
Be safe, and if you don’t know how to travel on glaciers then find someone who can take you.
