Location
I took this photo from the Montenvers train station after skiing down the Vallee Blanche from the Auigulle du Midi in Chamonix.Time
This was taken at about 3 in the afternoon, it wasn't planned at all, just happened to be the time we were there.Lighting
I love the amount of contrast in this photo, the sun catches the smooth rock near the summit, yet you can still see the details in the shadows.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 7D mark ii with a 70-200mm IS lens.Inspiration
I love the mountains and the Dru is a particularly intersting mountain. From this angle it's just an incredibly pointy piece of rock that is just asking to be climbed.Editing
I spent quite a bit of time getting the contrast right in lightroom. In my camera bag
My Camera, 70-200mm lens, 24-70mm lens and a flash. I'm normally skiing with it all so that weighs quite a bit already, and much more would make it difficult to ski with.Feedback
Make sure you try and capture a large dynamic range, the key to black and white photography is the contrast, particularly when you have white snow and dark rock in the same photo.
