I love how the light seems to be peeking out from around the mountain. It adds a great depth to the photo.

Thank you! It worked out great that it was in the morning and the sun was still low.

Just beautiful. The reward of getting up early and hiking to get that image. Thanks so much, what a shot and great composition!

Location
Taken below Vernal Falls, Yosemite National Park, Yosemite Valley.Time
Taken in the morning April 27, 2014.Lighting
I used an ND filter here not only for the effect but to turn down the bright background.Equipment
The equipment was a Nikon D610 with a Nikon 16-35mm, tripod an a assortment of ND filters.Inspiration
I want to get a shot with Vernal Falls in the background so I had to climb down to the river and get set up out on a rock where I had the river in front and the falls in back,Editing
I processed this photo in LightRoom and also used a plugin by On1 Software. In my camera bag
I usually carry 16-35 and 80-400 Nikon lenses. I also carry an assortment of ND filters and tripod.Feedback
My advice is for long exposure shots with moving water a variable ND filter works best because it is much easier to just adjust the filter then to take one off and put another on.
