I must agree with RobH in every aspect of his comment. Popularity should take a back seat to when judging the merits of great images in contests. Excellent photo. Congrats.

I have, many, a time, asked myself how is it that angels look. If this one is not my answer, then it comes pretty close. In spite of the gloomy place. Photography is not an easy task. It demaands Talent and Imagination, Thanks Mr. Bitrick

Location
There is a little creek that runs around my suburb, in Ipswich, Australia, and this location is a 1 minute drive from my house. I have always wanted to do shoot an image using this location. And this location has been 'bookmarked' by me for about a year now. When I first saw it, I remember looking up towards that area and thinking, I need to do something with this location.Time
This was taken around 4pm, which is around our golden hour time. I choose to shoot this a right at the start of golden hour because the area is heavily shaded and I wanted some dappling sunlight through the trees for natural bokeh.Lighting
This was shot using natural light, and the light from the lantern beam was added during post processing. I don't use flash or reflectors. The sun really hits the treeline in the background and adds an amazing bokeh effect of lights.Equipment
I shoot with my Canon 6D and 135L f2 prime lens, for the majority of my artistic images, except in my boutique portrait studio, where I will use a 24-70 f2.8 or 30mm f1.4. This was shot handheld, sitting in the water with the camera just above the water surface. It was very cold!Inspiration
I am still working on my Emotion Series, which is a series I have been doing for the past year, which is themed to emotions and feelings, and I wanted to shoot a more moody, darker image to release on Halloween, that wasn't your usual 'halloween horror' type of image, but still sinister, and invoking the viewer to be curious.Editing
Yes, I did do a lot of post processing on this image - mainly levels and curves to bring it down to a darker shot. I also added a little bit of fog to the top of the water, and of course, the lantern light is all added in post processing. In my camera bag
It really depends what I'm shooting, but for outdoor work, I generally use my Canon 6D with 135L f2 Prime lens. In my studio, I use my Canon 7D with 24-70mm f2.8. I have a 70-200 f2.8 that I basically do not use any more except for during weddings. My camera kit consists of: Canon 6D, Canon 7D, 30mm 1.4, 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8, 40mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4, 105mm 2.8. I also have two Elinchrom RX400 D-Lites in my studio.Feedback
Find locations that are out of the box. Look at locations for their potential. I am forever looking at locations and seeing potential and then that location will stick in my mind until I know what to do with it. Shoot as low as possible and wide open. Play around with editing. The SOOC for this shot looks completely different to the final edited version.
