Location
This is a shot of my mom and her dog 'Rosie', taken at her house. This shot is a number of years old, taken with my first DSLR cameraTime
This would have been late afternoon. There is a large window to the right of the frame, most of the light was coming from outsideLighting
There is fairly pronounced shadow in this shot - there was no artificial lighting in the room, and light from a big bay window made a strong contrast. Luckily it was at a decent angle!Equipment
This was taken hand-held witha Canon T4i and 'niffty-fifty' 500mm kit lensInspiration
I was pretty much just playing with a new toy, and Rosie was posing for me, the rest just happened!Editing
I was just getting into the hobby when this was taken, I shot it in JPG - I massaged things a bit in LightRoom, but I could only do so much starting with a JPG.In my camera bag
These days my 'walk about' setup is a Canon RP Mirrorless with a 24-240mm lens, but I'll also carry a 5D Mk III with any number of lenses if I'm looking to shoot something specific. I do have a couple of crop sensor bodies if I want a bit more reach, the extra magnification from the 1.6 crop factor helps there. I'm usually looking for cool things at random while traveling, so I often don't plan shots beforehand - I'm a pretty impromptu/opportunistic photographer. I've found I spend the most time with a 16-35mm wide angle, various prime lenses, or some sort of zoom depending on what I'm shooting. I also tend to use super-zooms a lot I don't have to changes lenses out in the open.Feedback
These days I always shoot in RAW, you can do so much more in POST with the extra detail saved
