This was just an impromptu shot taken at a friend's house. They had just adopted the kitty and he daughter was bonding with it...Time
It was around lunch time, but since it's an indoor shot it didn't affect lighting greatlyLighting
I used available lighting. The shot was taken in their kitchen, so there was a good bit of light streaming through windows in addition to the drop lighting of the houseEquipment
This was taken hand-held with a Canon 70D and Tamron 16/300mm lens (I'm not sure how I managed to nail exactly 100/1 focal length!). I did not use a flash, although in hindsight I could have removed some of the shadow if I had.Inspiration
I just happened to have the camera in my hand and this was just too tender a moment to pass up - it's a candid shot, there wasn't anything planned.Editing
I did minimal post processing in Elements on this shot. It's an older shot, I was still shooting in JPG and hadn't yet graduated to the Creative Cloud collection. I'm still happy with the results. In my camera bag
These days I'll usually have the 70D with the Tamron 16/300 mounted, and a 5D Mark III with a few extra lens that fit what I'll be shooting. I don't like changing lenses out in the open, so I'll try and pick out what I think will work beforehand. Don't forget extra batteries!Feedback
This was a candid shot, so my advice would be to always keep a camera nearby so you don't miss those fleeting moments!
