Location
This was taken along highway 281 south of Mineral Wells, Texas.
Time
This was taken near midday on a stormy fall Texas day, the overcast added to the moodiness of the shot.
Lighting
Lighting is very muted. It was actually misting a bit when I shot this - I was ready to make a full-on dash back to the truck if it started raining again!
Equipment
This was taken hand-held using a Canon 5D mkIII and 28mm f1.8 prime lens. The weather was very iffy, I didn't want to drag a tripod out in case I had to make a mad dash with all the equipment if it started raining again

Inspiration
I was camping in the area, exploring looking for interesting shots. I had found the bridge on BridgeHunter, and the timing of my visit couldn't have worked out better: they had just constructed a new concrete bridge along this one ,and the old one was bypassed. This allowed me to walk out on the bridge and get shots I never would have been able to get otherwise. I was afraid at the time they were going to remove the old bridge, but I've since discovered it was refurbished and converted to carry only southbound traffic (the new bridge now only carries northbound) - it has a new coat of paint and will survive to be photographed another day, but has lost some of its character in the process.
Editing
This was not heavily processed but it is an HDR composed from three different exposures, combined and converted to monochrome using LightRoom.
In my camera bag
These days my 'walk about' setup is a Canon RP Mirrorless with a 24-240mm lens, but I'll also carry a 5D Mk III with any number of lenses if I'm looking to shoot something specific. I do have a couple of crop sensor bodies if I want a bit more reach, the extra magnification from the 1.6 crop factor helps there. I'm usually looking for cool things at random while traveling, so I often don't plan shots beforehand - I'm a pretty impromptu/opportunistic photographer. I've found I spend the most time with a 16-35mm wide angle, various prime lenses, or some sort of zoom depending on what I'm shooting. I also tend to use super-zooms a lot so I don't have to changes lenses out in the open.
Feedback
look around at the surroundings when shooting - This was shot at a low angle for two reasons; I wanted to get move of the roadbed in the shot in order to capture more of the reflections, but I was also using the bridge rail to mask as much of the parallel concrete bridge as possible
