Well today was a fun and frustrating day all wrapped in one, But mostly 99% fun. And here is my beautifully bad image.
So I took a drive to Queen Mary Falls today with my wife as It was a get away from civilisation kind of day, and time to switch off for a few hour's. Of course I had the camera with me and thought "why not, I think I'll try my luck at a waterfall shot".
Now the big thing about photography is timing and lighting, 80 percent of my view had a nice shade to it but the top right and edge of waterfall had full extreme sunlight, and it reflected down to me and the running water. This meant no matter how I captured it in a single frame, it was gonna be kind of messy lol. So I set up, twisted the ND8 filter best I could to the bright area and clicked away.
Now the issues faced were, No cloud so harsh blue sky and high brightness, super dark shadows to the left and a very over exposed sun on the right which bounced of the wet cliffside, and most of all it was the middle of the day so no balance in lighting overall. As usual it looked ok on camera but once on the big screen the fault's appear.
But the lesson here isn't that I failed, It's that I tried something at a time I knew wasn't ideal and something new came of it. It's ok to take a bad or different picture. It's ok to try something at a bad time and create something different from what you intended. And the reason it's ok that all those thing's didn't go my way is these few simple things.
Well for starters I got out of the house and had a great day with my wife. Also I was reminded of timing an image with the radar or environment so look for a cloudy day or and early start with much more favourable light. And most of all, I will have the chance to try again one day soon.
What you do today doesn't have to be the final result, you can go back another time and try again and again in many cases of photography. And always remember to capture it how you wanted it to look, and not what the world want's.
So the next time I post this spot, I will have planned it better and prepared it better for how I really want it to look. As I said above, this image is a beautifully bad pic and it's proudly mine ???? . And besides that, today was about time with my wife, photos were just a bonus.
So I hope you like this image lol, and I hope if you ever feel something didn't work out. You plan it again and make yourself proud.
