Location
I took this photo in a rapeseed field that was there this spring in the province of Piacenza, near where I liveTime
It was late afternoon, when the light begins to soften a littleLighting
To take this type of photo it is essential that there are clouds in the sky, otherwise the composition would be empty and the light too harsh. Clouds soften the light making everything more interesting.Equipment
For this type of photo I only use my camera and a wide angle. In this case the lens is the laowa 10-18 manual on full frame which is a wide angle with a crazy angle of view that allows very unusual shooting.Inspiration
I had seen this rapeseed field on facebook and I fell in love with it at first sight, since it was geotagged I didn't struggle to find it. often on the internet, following the local groups you can find magical places a stone's throw from home.Editing
I have my own workflow on landscapes of this type that I follow and I know that it gives me good results. The main points are: color correction, light balance (darken the sky and lighten the foreground), add contrast with dodge and burn then there are ad hoc corrections on some parts of the photo when necessary. Each photo has its own particular post production, but let's say that the main steps are the ones I have described. However, it is always essential to have a very good starting shot. By now I tend to produce very few photos with each release, so if a photo is not good enough I delete it without trying to post produce it. At each release I produce a maximum of 5/6 photos, the rest I delete. In my camera bag
I currently do 3 genres: landscape, night landscape and portrait and everyone has a specific equipment so I always travel with a very light backpack. I always have my sony a7iii which is a camera that is good for all genres and is at its best at night. For landscapes I always go out with a wide angle and maybe a normal lens, usually 2, in rare cases 3 lenses. I am currently in love with this 10-18 laowa which, having a crazy angle of view, allows for completely unusual results.Feedback
Look at the local facebook groups without fixing yourself on faraway places where it is difficult and expensive to go. Sometimes near home there are beautiful things that are easy to reach.
