This is a photo of Cheddar Gorge in Somerset, England. Cheddar Gorge is a limestone gorge in the Mendip Hills, near the village of Cheddar, Somerset, England. The gorge is the site of the Cheddar show caves, where Britain's oldest complete human skeleton, Cheddar Man, estimated to be over 9,000 years old, was found in 1903.Older remains from the Upper Late Palaeolithic era (12,000–13,000 years ago) have also been found. The caves, produced by the activity of an underground river, contain stalactites and stalagmites. The gorge is part of a Site of Special Scientific Interest called Cheddar Complex.Time
This was taken about 1pm. I had originally intended to go to Wales to photograph a couple of castles but due to bad weather there I stayed in Engalnd & went to Cheddar instead.Lighting
It had been very overcast most of the morning but then the sky cleared & the lighting improved as it can be very dark within the gorge itself.Equipment
I'm such a lazy photographer! I only ever carry my camera, which at the moment is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200. It's very light weight & easy to carry around all day.Inspiration
I love the characteristics of the stone within the gorge.. With the areas of grass in between the rocks.Editing
I lightened the image slightly to bring out the detail in the rocks. I only use Photoshop Elements as I don't like over processed images. In my camera bag
As I said before, I'm such a lazy photographer & only have my camera with me. I love to take opportunistic images so a light weight camera suits me better as it's easier to carry.Feedback
