Location
I took this photo in Cascais Portugal. This tiny heart was part of a stone in the pavement.Time
It was about 11 AM I guess, we were going to the beach.Lighting
The sun was very strong, as most of the time in Portugal. I was sitting on my knees, blocking the sunlight with my back to avoid too much direct light.Equipment
I didn't use any equipment other then my wonderful little Lumix DMC-TZ100.Inspiration
The pavement is a part of the city which moves unseen underneath the soles of our shoes... I like to look at the details of which my surrounding is build up, many natural stone pavements, floors and walls contain the most beautiful fossils and wonderful abstract patterns, ready to be photographed. This little perfect heart is flanked by a red line, it seems to be expressing impossible love...Editing
I did a little bit of post-processing in Lightroom to add some "drama" to the photo. The shape of the heart and the red line are unedited. In my camera bag
I don't have any equipment in my bag (yet) I am a beginning photographer and I am learning to use a camera, to look for the good light, composition and point of view. One day when I know how to use and set the camera well enough, I will start to think about a bag filled with technical things instead of the need to understand...Feedback
Photographing hidden details like this little heart in a natural piece of stone in the pavement is not difficult, you only have to take the time to try to see them! I love spontanious photography, nothing planned and no idea what's going to happen. My best photos were taken by chance. No matter the wheather or where you are, if you have a nice eye for detail and composition, you can take an interesting photo on every square foot on earth. If you want to shoot a macro, be careful with direct sunlight, it can ruin the details of your subject. Deep shadows and burned out light spots can be very distractive. Once you get home and open your laptop, the magic of today's world begins... I allways crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!
