This is amazing! What wonderful subtle colors - so many when you really look. The stories that could be told by this place! :)

Location
I took this photo in the Alentejo in Portugal. We were waiting on friends for a photo trip when I saw this wonderful weathered window across the street. A fine start of a lovely day out!Time
It was about 11 am.Lighting
At the end of the morning the sun in Portugal is allready very strong. Fortunately, the sun was at the other side of this ruin wall, so the view through the window is lit very nice and the wall itself had indirect reflecting light from the modern glass buildings across the street, just perfect.Equipment
I have a Lumix DMC-TZ100, a wonderful small camera with a nice little Leica lens. I didn't use any extra equipment. It was a spontanious quick photo standing in the middle of the street with cars passing me in all directions...Inspiration
I love urban photography and decay as a theme. This broken window in combination with the wonderful weathered wall caught my eye and I fell in love with it! The colors and textures where so wonderful that I took the risk of standing in the middle of the street to take a few quick shots. The combination of the many textures like cloth, tiles, glass, wood and cement were emphasised by the many colors like a symphony...Editing
I did some post-processing in Lightroom. I separated the colors a bit and added some light and shadow to make the photo more dramatic. In my camera bag
I don't have a bag of equipment... My love for natural beauty and spontanious composition is enough for the moment. I always carry my Lumix DMC-TZ100 with me, wich practically fits in my back pocket and I never have to worry about the extra equipment as I am in the beginning of the learning process of photography. One day when I know how to use and set the camera well enough, I will start to think about a bag filled with technical things instead of the need to understand how it works first...Feedback
To take a photo like this one, you need nothing more than a good eye for detail and a drive to see what others don't see... Just look around you and be surprised about the beautiful and crazy world we are living in and see what is allready there to be seen. In this case I can give little advice as this scene was allready waiting for me, I just had to see it... When I walk through a village or anywhere else, I allways look around me very carefully to see the details of wich the world around me is build up. I try to look through a pinhole, without forgetting the whole picture. If you look at a subject to photograph, you have to try to realise what you want to achieve before you take the photo, Try to find the good light, the right point of view and the best composition... And most of all, take more shots with slightly different settings so you can choose the best one. Once you get home and open your laptop, the magic of today's world begins... I allways crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them! And last but not least... beware of the traffic around you, I was standing in the middle of the street with all traffic passing all around me while taking a few shots... photography can be deadly, hahaha!
