Another experiment with a few shots from the poor foliage year (2013). in my backyard in NJ. Leaves didn't have much color… The oaks and maples mostly went from dull greens to shades of brown right away - with very little of the usual reds-oranges-yellows in between. Perhaps Hurricane Sandy the previous year had something to do with it…

While working in the yard one afternoon, as the sun was moving toward sweet light, I noticed a very small section of brightly colored leaves amongst the dreary grey and brown ones. It was in the distance, though, so I needed to pull out my old mirror lens.

I tried an experiment to make an ‘artsy’ foliage image. Shot the same frame a bunch of times changing focus through the entire range of the lens. It wasn’t my usual landscape shoot – I got to pull up a deck chair. I don’t usually get to shoot while sitting!…

I brought a few of the images into Photoshop and layered a couple blurry ones over the sharp ones. Here is another of my results. What do you think?…
