This was a bit of nautical serendipity. My wife and I were on the ferry on the way back home (Cape Cod) from an (always too brief) vacation over on Nantucket Island. As usual I stayed out on deck, while she stayed warm inside. Usually I stay out only at the beginning and end of a 'voyage' (coming in and out of harbors is a favorite shooting time for me), but this trip for some reason, even with the overcast sky, I stayed out when we were "out to sea" too…

The sun started to break through as Hyannis came in to sight, and one of the trailing gulls happened to position itself in just the perfect spot… Nice!

This was shot with my Nikon F2 on Kodachrome. Over forty years ago!. I have no idea of exposure, etc… I did recently improve, exposure and color a bit with Photoshop.
