Location
I took this photo in Limburg, the most southern provence of Holland.Time
It was about 4 PM on a wonderful day in late autumnLighting
There was a faint sun that day but not at this side of the hill. I choose the shadow side of the hill to make the background kind of grey and blurry. I wanted to focus all attention on the yellow autumn leaves.Equipment
I have a Lumix DMC-TZ60, all my photos are taken with this little miracle of a camera... it shows that you don't need an expensive camera with a lot of equipment to make good quality photos. The best thing about this camera is that it has a good Leica lens and it is very easy to carry with you because it practically fits in your back pocket.Inspiration
I was looking for two autumn colored leaves close together and isolated from the background. It's an image that reminds me of my first sweet love... At the sun side of the hill all the twigs and trees in the background caused too much light and shadow, so I went looking for my two autumn leaves at the other side. And they were waiting for me... exactly the way I had in mind! The background was filled with little twigs and trees and the leaves were brightly yellow, a great contrast.Editing
I did some editing in Lightroom to push the background even a bit further away and I lightened up the leaves slightly to enhance the contrast. In my camera bag
I don't have any equipment in my bag (yet) I am a beginning photographer and I am learning to use a camera, to look for the good light, composition and point of view. One day when I know how to use and set the camera well enough, I will start to think about a bag filled with technical things instead of the need to understand photography first...Feedback
If you look at a subject to photograph, you have to try to realise what you want to achieve, Try to find the good light, the right point of view and the best composition... And most of all, take more shots with slightly different settings so you can choose the best one, once you got home and opened your laptop, the magic of today's world begins... I allways crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!
