This photo was taken in my backyard as I was practicing my macro photography on flowers and plants.Time
This photo was taken in the afternoon as I was playing with my cat as she was rolling around in the grass.Lighting
I wanted to capture the mosquito sitting on my cat’s nose and there was beautiful light coming from the side from the afternoon sun.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 600D and I used my 100mm macro lens.Inspiration
I was taking photos of flowers in my backyard, and when I finished I was sitting in the grass and my cat was lazing around next to me. A mosquito was buzzing around my head (which was really annoying!) and I was waving it away, and then when I looked down to my cat I saw it was sitting on her nose. My cat even sat perfectly still for me to take the photo! I wanted to capture how creatures big and small can interact in unique manners such as this.Editing
Yes, I added contrast to add emphasis to the mosquito to make it stand out more. I also decided black and white would suit this image as it compliments the image of a small insect on the nose of an animal. I think it adds the softness of the story of the photo,In my camera bag
I always pack my macro lens, I don't like to go anywhere without it! I also take my 50mm lens as it is a very versatile lens.Feedback
When photo opportunities come up like this, it's easy to panic to try and take the photo before the opportunity passes. You have to stay calm and keep your hand steady with macro photography. Rushing will cause you to make mistake and the images to come out unfocussed. So simply, I would say to breathe!
