I know. Not exactly ‘coastal’… But sometimes it’s interesting to get into the heartland…

As a designer, I went to the International Design Conference in Aspen fairly early in my career. And dragged my wife along so we could do some camping too. But, alas I spent way more time hiking (and shooting!…) than I did attending the conference… But after all, it was our first trip to Colorado - or to see mountains in general...

For the trip I had just purchased my first SLR - my trusty Nikon F2 (I went thru three more of them as the years went on). So I had to put it to good use. And I did. Often!… I think i shot over sixty rolls on the trip.

This shot was taken on our very long drive out (from Massachusetts) up at Independence Pass, at the continental divide. It was late May. And we saw a couple guys skiing!… And it snowed again the night we got into Aspen.
