This photo was taken across the street from my house in a church parking lot. There are islands of dirt, shrubs and trees. And in the fall, plenty of mushrooms.Time
This photo was shot on a frosty morning as the sun was rising on November 25, 2015.Lighting
I loved the sunlight illuminating the mushroom.Equipment
This was shot with my "backup" camera, an old Sony NEX3 with a standard kit lens. No flash, no tripod.Inspiration
I never really thought about shooting mushrooms until I saw a few fantastic 'shroom shots on ViewBug and other sites. Thought I'd give it a try.Editing
Almost no post-processing. Minor Highlight Priority in Lightroom. In my camera bag
Nikon D5300, Sony NEX3, Nikon 35mm lens, Tokina 11-16mm lens, Nikon 18-55 lens, Sony 18-55mm lens, small tripod, Circular Polarizing filter.Feedback
I definitely wanted a ground level shot to take advantage of good depth of field and backlight from the sun. I also wanted to get the focus as sharp as possible to capture the texture of the mushroom and it's surroundings.
