Grand Jury Winner

"This image grabbed my attention!  The color accents the beauty of this gorgeous water-drop.  Harold Edgerton would be proud of you!  You took the drop to the next level by creating an elegant figure of water.  Your depth-of-field works perfectly to enhance the grace of the water and the punch of color.  You have no distractions at all to remove me from your subject and the lines of the water keeps my eyes moving.  Congratulations to you Alexander!  Your hard work has so paid off!  This is a beautiful piece of Macro Art you created!" - Janice Sullivan

Runner Up

"The use of your shallow depth of field works perfect here!  I know you call this the, “Angry Ant” but to me it looks like it’s laughing.  The composition really works to draw our eyes to the front of the ant and the slight vignette pulls us even further into the sharp focused mandibles, which make me think …I dare you to come closer  ;)  Centering the subjects path works perfect here since the out of focus areas feels like a dream and leads to no distractions to the ant.  Nice work Andreas!" - Janice Sullivan

Runner Up

"The bokeh goes perfect with the moth and you nailed the focus where it needed to be. The eyes are perfect and I can feel the softness of the moth from your detail behind the head.  I really like that the moth has spots to match your bokeh and it's nice to see a Macro moth with a bit of bling!  The color draws me into the beautiful moth and bokeh gives your work depth and a bit of punch but is not at all distracting to your hero, “Tiger Moth”.  It’s a beautiful piece!  Well done Leon!" - Janice Sullivan

Amateur Winner

"I love the way you flipped your subject and yet still added your own touch to the background!  The light at the top grabs my eyes and then takes me down to the twins, nice touch! The backlighting also creates depth and the water drops add life to the work.  The details of the eyes makes the yellow pop!  You took the subject to the next level and it totally works! Love your thought process here!" - Janice Sullivan
