On my recent trip to Maui, I stopped to watch the sunset at the Launiupoko State Wayside Park . While exploring the park I came across a Hawaiian Monk Seal taking a nap on a little beach on the north end of the park. I was thrilled to be able to see one of these beautiful creatures that are on the endangered species list. He opened one eye just long enough for me to take this photo then went back to sleeping.
