Congratulations for making it to be the finalist. I love this as it reminds me of a Chinese Ink painting. Very surreal and beautiful captured. :-) Woof!

Superb capture, it looks as though the waterfall were pouring fog into the forest, nicely done!

This looks like the fog is the river being fed by the waterfall. Amazing capture, very jealousy-inducing!

Behind The Lens
Location
I captured this image in Yosemite National Park. It was taken from the iconic Tunnel View location. I had visited Yosemite as part of a 3-day photo workshop. I was so excited to be going...and so disappointed as the workshop drew near! It rained hard for each of the three days of the workshop, making most of the workshop a complete wash out! The storm was supposed to clear shortly after the scheduled end of the workshop. I decided to stay an extra day and was rewarded with the raging waterfall and the mystic mist!Time
This was captured early morning, about sunrise. The early morning timing and heavy overcast allowed for a 20-second exposure blurring the drifting mist.Lighting
The overcast skies provided some beautiful, even lighting for this shot. I really wanted to capture the mystique of the setting and the lighting cooperated.Equipment
Captured with a Canon 40d, a 70-200mm telephoto on a tripod. The lens was set at about 85mm, f20.Inspiration
Pressure! I couldn't go home with nothing to show for the rained-out workshop! Clearing storms in Yosemite are a blessing for photographers. I loved the mist moving between the trees and wanted to capture an image showing this side of Yosemite.Editing
Lightroom and Silver Effects. I adjusted basic exposure settings and sharpness in Lightroom and then completed the tonal settings in Sliver Effects. In my camera bag
I usually carry a Canon 5d iii, 16-35mm wide lens, 24-70mm lens and 70-200mm telephoto, along with Gitzo GT2545T tripod, various ND filters, Circular Polarizers, remote shutter release and a snack.Feedback
Travel flexibility is key! Yosemite weather is dynamic, but if you can be there as storms are moving in or out you're almost guaranteed to get a great shot in Yosemite. This type of image is most common in the fall or warmer winter days.
