Location
This photo was taken in Sintra, Portugal. A mystical mountain on the most western point of Europe.Time
It was about 2 am on a foggy winters night.Lighting
The light at the other side of the tunnel lit up the incoming fog, nicely backlighting the girl walking there.Equipment
I took this photo with my little miracle Lumix DMC-TZ-100, an intelligent pocket camera with a nice Leica lens.Inspiration
Sintra is a mystical mountain with a great and long history of druids, wiches and kings. You can find hundreds of tunnels and paths curling up and down to create a nice photo. The foggy mood and the light at the end of the tunnel formed a beautiful combination to express the feeling of lonelyness. A lot of people passed this tunnel as I was waiting for the right shot until this girl came along, looking down... I clicked only once.Editing
I cropped the photo and played a little with the contrast in Lightroom, that's all.In my camera bag
I don't have any equipment in my bag (yet) I am a beginning photographer and I am learning to use a camera, to look for the good light, composition and point of view. One day when I know how to use and set the camera well enough, I will start to think about a bag filled with technical things instead of the need to understand photography first...Feedback
The first and best advice I can give anybody is to be patient and wait until that one moment you are looking for comes around... But before you can sit and wait to take the photo, you have to have an idea what you want to achieve and where. Look when the light will be good and from what position you want to take your photo. The right time of day and the right weather are important as well. In this case I went to Sintra on a foggy night with lots of artificial light to take nice photos. The next step was to wait for that one girl entering or leaving the tunnel, creating the photo I was looking for. I allways shoot a wider area to be able to crop the photo later into a nice composition. I like to edit and crop in different ways, so I can choose the best one the next day, when I can have a fresh look at them.
