Location
I have taken this photo in Limburg, Holland.Time
It was 10 pm on a wonderful sunny early spring day in the south of Holland.Lighting
The faint winters sun casted a wonderful shadow of the blue Jay on the tree.Equipment
I used my wonderful Lumix DMC-TZ60 and shot by hand, without a flash.Inspiration
It was a cold but beautiful sunny day in early spring when I saw a blue Jay in a tree. These birds are very shy so I tried to keep out of sight... I choose a good position for a nice photo and waited for the moment to take a nice photo when the bird suddenly flew towards me. Normally these birds fly away from you so I was thrilled and kept clicking for a second and it was gone... I ran home to my laptop to find out if I had a good and sharp photo!Editing
I didn't do any post-processing apart from cropping this photo. In my camera bag
I don't have any equipment in my bag (yet) I am a beginning photographer and I am learning to use a camera, to look for the good light, composition and point of view. One day when I know how to use and set the camera well enough, I will start to think about a bag filled with technical things instead of the need to understand how it works first...Feedback
If you look at a subject to photograph, you have to try to realise what you want to achieve, Try to find the good light, the right point of view and the best composition... And most of all, take more shots with slightly different settings so you can choose the best one, once you get home and open your laptop when the magic of today's digital world begins... I allways crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them! Never disturb the animals and respect their habitat! I allways look at the reaction of the animal I try to photograph, the moment it shows fear, I back of and leave it in peace.
