Location
I took this photo indoors in preparation of shooting outdoors. I was coaching the model.Time
This was taken around 3 pm.Lighting
Lighting was ambient from the model's right, our left from a patio door. The light from the incandescent bulb provided the rest. At some points during the shoot, I used a Canon 600 EX RT II stepped down to fill in shadows, bouncing from the rear wall.Equipment
This was with my 5D mark iv, a EF 70-200 f2.8 IS II and a 600 EX RT II speed light.Inspiration
We were prepping to head outside and I was coaching her before the shoot. I wanted the model to become comfortable in front of an intimidating camera, since most youth are accustomed to cell phone selfie and not a Canon lol.Editing
I did some minor post processing to touch up blemishes and smooth the skin and balance the light. Some makeup was enhanced. In my camera bag
I have my Canon BG-E20 grip on my 5D mark IV, along with a EF 24-70 f2.8 II L, a EF 70-200 f2.8 IS II L, I have a EF 50 f1.8 III, an EF 85 f1.8 as well as an EF 300 f4 II L. I have a Canon 600 EX RT II speed light and a Metz 52 flash. I have a whole whack of Yongnuo 622 flash controller thingys too.Feedback
Having a new model shouldn't be intimidating. Take the time to discuss with them what your vision is with their goals and visions. Provide information to them on technical limitations and make them comfortable. Bring water and take breaks as required. (More to follow)
