Grand Jury Winner

"Although photography is very subjective in the way it touches an individual's emotions fora wide variety of reasons, this image stood out to me as incredibly creative, mysterious, surreal and with the human figure far in the distance running toward the viewer it was like the perfect icing on the cake for me.  I love how the image does not have a particular definition or meaning but remains mysterious and enigmatic.  To create an image like this and for it to have a special almost magical quality amazes me. " - Mark Metternich

Amateur Winner

"It was almost a perfect tie between this image and Runner up #2 and I struggled very hard to choose which one I liked most for completely different reasons. It was such an equal tie I was not sure what to do in judging them. But then a thought came to mind: which would I prefer to put on the wall of my home?  This one speaks volumes to me and I have a personal/emotional connection to it. The early riser, the athlete, the competitive person putting in the hard hours of determined training when maybe half the world is still in bed sleeping.  The image also looks as if it might not have been set up. The use of line is immediately striking to me, but what puts it over the top is the content of the physical athlete, which I connect to." - Mark Metternich

Runner Up

"This image is just amazing in its natural lines, light, and color temperature contrast!  A very feely image for me. I can almost feel the coldness of the shadows and the warmth of what looks like the earliest morning light. Having the solitary figure in the image and the long shadow is wonderful.  The only thing I wished would have been improved is the distracting shadow above the human figure.  I know that would be a pretty mighty difficult clone to eliminate, but feel the image would work better without it." - Mark Metternich

Runner Up

"This is an amazing image in many respects.  I love the creativity of both the dancer's position and the use of lines.  Not only those things but the surrealness of the entire image and its rendering is excellent!  Awesome job!" - Mark Metternich
