This photo was taken in the summer of 2019 at a friend's house in the National Capital Region of Canada.Time
This was a Saturday mid-afternoon in the summer with hardly any clouds and a lot of blue sky, so the light was fierce.Lighting
This was a lovely weekend afternoon, it was warm and mid-afternoon. We had decided to do other pics indoors and this was one of the ones outside that day. I had to try and balance the exposure with my speedlight and reflector. I've taken more outdoor portraits since and keep improving. Got to start somewhere!Equipment
I was using my trusty Canon 5D Mark IV, a reflector and 600 ex rt-II speedlight and ef L 70-200 f2.8 II IS and a polarizing filter.Inspiration
My friend's daughter wanted some pics for her Instagram account and they contacted me to dona session. I hadn't really focused on portraits and was mainly doing landscapes and nature, however I thought I would give it a shot.Editing
Yes, I used dxo photo lab as well as some adjustments in Photoshop. I have gotten much better since mind you, but this was amongst my first portraits so I can really critique this and find all the flaws, but it's been well received so I won't worry much and strive and do better each time. I feel I have done maybe too much touching up, so if I were to do it again - then, less is more!In my camera bag
I carry mostly L series lenses now, especially the ef 24-70 f2.8 II and the 70-200 f2.8 IS II among others. I have a 600 ex rt-II speedlight and some Yongnuo xmitters.Feedback
