Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken outside a small rural town in northern Quebec. I was on my way to visit someone and happened to have my DSLR with me in my car.Time
It was just after work around 4 pm and I loved how the field looked with the blue skies and clouds.Lighting
The lighting was simply pure daylight later in the afternoon. It was slightly above and westwards to the left of the photo.Equipment
I used a Canon XSI Rebel with the Canon18-55 kit lens, tri-pod and a Trigger Trap cable connected to my BlackBerry for remote shutter release shot in CR2 raw.Inspiration
I love taking landscape photos and love exploring the regions around me. Canada is such a huge country and there is no shortage of landscapes to shoot.Editing
I did minimal editing in Corel Paint Shop Photo Pro to balance out the foreground and background. In my camera bag
I mainly use Canon products and had a XSi Rebel with a battery grip, now replaced by my 70D. I keep the various filter basics for each lens, such as a neutral density, a circular polarizer and a haze filter for each. I have a Metz 44 external flash and a tri-pod. I have a TriggerTrap cable for HDR, time-lapse and remote trigger capability. I've recently acquired an EF 50mm 1.8 STM lens and a Tamron 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 lens. A Sigma 10-20 F/3.5 EX DC HSM. I have learned it's to use what you have available, as I have even captured some wonderful shots with my BlackBerry phones!Feedback
Shoot lots, digital means you can capture many! Learn the settings outside of automatic and know when to use a tri-pod. Take time to learn from others in the Viewbug community and simply get out there! Like my realtor girlfriend knows - Location Location Location and I would add - Read read read!
