These Garlic Chives are in my porch herb garden, every day the bees flock to them and I have captured many nice macro shots. This time I decided to capture the flower as the early morning light gave it a soft and delicate effect.Time
Around an hour after sunrise I was out 'capturing' bees, there had been a light sun shower and everything looked fresh and revitalized! A truly magic time for nature photography!Lighting
I love to do nature shots in natural light, early morning and just before dusk is my favorite time as the light is soft and colors muted.Equipment
My camera is a Canon EOS 700d, the lens my favorite the Canon entry lvl Macro,EFS 60mm. Such a crisp clear shot at close range but also great for portraits. I hand hold the camera, when doing nature shots, as to follow the action with a tripod would prove clumsy. I sometimes will use a soft voil diffuser and flash if the position is dark, but in this shot the natural light was perfect!Inspiration
The beauty of nature inspires me every day to look, absorb, embrace and if very lucky, to capture a photo that I love and can return to later to enjoy :)Editing
I use both Microsoft 'Photo Gallery' and Zoner Photo studio 14. These are easy and basic programmes as I prefer to do most of the adjustments myself. This photo is cropped a little to center it more correctly. I was using a very shallow depth of field so it needed a 'tweek' to sharpen it to make the water drops crisp and clear. In my camera bag
My equipment is fairly basic as I am an amateur hobbyist. I use just one camera the Canon Eos 700D for the majority of my work / play :) and 3 lenses, EFS 18-55mm, EFS 60mm and entry lvl 'Wide' EFS 10-18mm. Plus for other than nature shots a Takara T TV-2595LXS tripod for indoor, formal poses and set up shots. Nature photography is my main focus but I do slip in the odd landscape and portrait to mix it up. I also carry a cleaning kit and spare battery - outdoor work can be dusty and sometimes I can be walking for hours! I have a lot to learn yet and your positive comments will spur me on to try new ideas and 'just get out there' ... Thank you!Feedback
For my nature photography I try any and everything! The equipment isn't as important as my will to just get out there and have FUN! Even a quite basic good brand camera has the ability to take amazing shots - keep trying - use manual to get the main focus in as crisp and fine a detail as you can ... fuzzy doesn't look good unless it is the background :) Get down to ground level every chance you can - the different view can be quite astounding!!
