Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Frassinara, near Parma, near a large abandoned property that is seen in front of the model

Time

It was taken in the afternoon, but for the kind of photo I wanted to get the time of day was not essential.

Lighting

In this photo there is only natural light, nothing more, the sun was about 45 ° behind me as you can see from the shadow created by the model.

Equipment

No tripod, I used my sony A7ii and the samyang 85mm f1.4, all open.

Inspiration

The photo is part of a series that I called "the traveler", will be exhibited in a photo exhibition, along with other photos of the same series. I wanted to create an imaginary and mysterious journey of this girl, my friend Natalia through abandoned places in the province of Parma.

Editing

The post production in this photo is essential. To achieve a narrow depth of field in fact I made about 8 shots joined in a panoramic, the method has taken the name of photographer Brenizer who often uses this technique that sometimes I also use to create enviromental portraits like this.

In my camera bag

For this kind of photographs I bring my faithful A7II with me and some fixed and bright lenses, 50mm, 85 and 135. Unfortunately I can not afford the G master lenses, but who knows maybe one day. For more complex work I also use flash on the stand and umbrella, but not for this photo where I used only natural light.

Feedback

It is essential to have in mind first what you want to achieve, a project in short, such photos are unfortunately not random but precise projects. So it takes some time, but if the work is appreciated it has largely paid off the time it takes to think.
