I was late to work this morning, what a show!
The photo also has a bit of optical illusion as well. If you turn it counter clockwise and step back, you will see a frosty beverage in a bottle.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the shore of Lake Erie, Oak Harbor, Ohio. The foreground is a marsh just outside of my condo. You can see the lake on the other side of the road.

Time

I was getting ready to leave for work around 7:00 am and noticed out the window that the sky was really starting to light up.

Lighting

This was all natural. I ended up late for work as I had to keep taking shots every couple of minutes. The lighting changed constantly.

Equipment

Believe it or not, I shot this with my Droid. I didn't have a good camera yet.

Inspiration

Inspiration?? Just look at it, it was the best sunrise I have ever seen in this area!

Editing

This was as shot. Sometimes nature doesn't need any help. I didn't even need to crop it.

In my camera bag

Now I have a Nikon D5100. I own two lenses, the kit 55-300 and a Nikon 16-85. For flash I carry an SB-600 with an 8x8 shadow box.

Feedback

Sure, be a boy scout and be prepared. I am always looking at the sky before the golden hours. For sunsets, I watch the clouds often to see if something may materialize before the sun is setting. I have a few spots in my area that offer up some good shots. All too many times though, I grab my bag, jump in the car and drive to my spot only to have the clouds blow away. Oh well, maybe next time....
