Location
This photo was taken by the River Wey in Ripley (near Woking Surrey, UK) co-ordinates (facing south west) 51.305558, -0.511706Time
I left the office early (about 15:30) on 2nd January 2015 and was heading home. My route home takes me over a couple of humpback bridges as the road crosses the River Wey. As I drove over one of the bridges I noticed a warm yellow/orange setting sun reflecting off of the river . I pulled in at the next opportunity and walked back to capture the beautiful light and clouds.Lighting
The sun almost looks like an eye and the clouds eyelids. The cloud was moving fairly fast in the wind though and it had soon moved on.Equipment
I used my Canon 7d with a sigma 18-35mm lens (setting 18mm, f7.1). The shots (3 bracketed) were handheld.Inspiration
I pass this location twice a day (when working) and already knew it the view had potential. I just had to wait for the right conditions.Editing
I bracketed 3 different exposures and combined them using Photomatrix Pro.In my camera bag
I usually travel light so just my 7d with 1-2 lenses (Sigma F1.8 18-35mm and Canon F4 IS 70-200mm).Feedback
To take a similar picture you need to find the right location and wait for the natural lighting to create a bit of magic to lift the whole scene.
