I really like this image. Since the tattered curtains are on the inside between the window frame and the bricks, it makes you wonder what is hidden behind the bricks. Good eye to see this wonderful phototure. Excellent gallery!

Doors and windows are always so interesting and they tell a story. And that story can be anything you want it to be. Beautiful capture!

I have to say this is one of the best photographs I've seen. I can't stop thinking about it. There's always that initial "wow that's amazing" but then it fades and you forget about it. This one refuses to fade for me, I absolutely love it.

Edgar Allen Poe would have loved this, and written quite a story about it!

Not the winner but a second place for this closed window. I am very surprised by the way it is done and also by the way you captured the window on camera. Amazing what people can do. The curtains makes this image special. Greetz Angel

Heerlijk hè? Die oude ramen... Een beeld wat verhalen vertelt zonder woorden. Mooie scenes leg je vast!

In Portugal you can find the most wonderful doors and windows, I have photographed many of them there. Portugese members of Viewbug often recognize them as being Portugese!Time
It took this photo at the end of the day.Lighting
The light is natural, no flash and no direct sunlight. I couldn't go back for another try at a different time of day with different light because we had to travel on. When I saw the result I was quite happy with the lack of sunlight as it adds to the story of this window. Shut off from the world, no sunlight can enter the house anymore.Equipment
I allways carry my wonderful Lumix DMC-TZ60 pocketcamera with me, and shot this photo free out of hand without any extra equipment.Inspiration
As I was walking through the city, I saw this wonderful and strange window with the curtains seeming to hang outside between the broken glass and the bricks, closing the window for allways... Windows are the eyes of a house, when you close your eyes from the inside... you stop living and the window becomes an object, the house will merely be a collection of bricks and memories. Shut off from the rest of the world, no air or light can enter the house anymore, leaving it as a relic of what once was a home...Editing
I don't do much editing although I allways crop the photo's I shoot. In this photo I played a little bit with the color intensity and the contrast, that's all.In my camera bag
I don't have a bag of equipment at all, only my Lumix DMC-TZ60, a wonderful intelligent automatic pocketcamera wich practically fits in my backpocket. It shows that you do not have to use expensive and big cameras to achieve nice results...Feedback
In this case I can give little advice as this window was wonderful as it was... When I walk through a city or anywhere else, I allways look around me very carefully to see the details of wich the world around me is build up. I try to look through a pinhole, without forgetting the whole picture. When I take the photo, I allways take a few steps back to take a wider shot so I can crop it later to the exact dimensions I like. Take more shots with slightly different settings so you can choose the best one later. Once you open your laptop, the magic of today's world begins... I always crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop and edit the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!
