Location
I took this photo in Salsomaggiore terme, in front of the liberty building of the Berzieri baths.Time
Towards evening, if it had been clear, it might have been the blue hour, but the sky was cloudy and purpleLighting
For this kind of shots I don't add anything to what nature gives me for free, the light was already interesting as well.Equipment
Here the lens is fundamental. This is a 10mm full frame wide angle that I gave myself a few months ago, the vensus laowa 10-18. The reviews of this lens weren't exciting, but I knew it was the lens for me. I'm not a pixel-peeper and I'm more interested in the emotions that an image is able to convey than in perfect definition. Such an extreme lens will hardly be sharp in the corners, but I don't care. The angle of view it has is crazy and I love using it especially vertically where it produces unique shots.Inspiration
It was a while that I had in mind this shot taken from this edge of this fountain and I knew that shooting with an extreme wide angle and vertically would be an interesting shot. In photography of this type I believe that depth and having an interesting foreground are fundamental.Editing
In this type of shots I always increase the contrast and add a little vignetting in order to direct the gaze towards the center of the image, it is also essential to straighten the vertical lines that in architecture it is better that they are vertical and parallel. Even a little dodge and burn in some places can make the image more interesting and enjoyable. In my camera bag
In my bag when I take shots of this I kind of have nothing, in the sense that I usually go with the camera and a lens and that's it. In this case the sony a7iii and the venus laowa 10-18mm which is a wide angle for full frame with an incredible angle of view, but completely manual.Feedback
This shot is taken 10km from my house, in a place that I can easily reach in about ten minutes. Sometimes you just need to leave the house to take interesting photos, it is not necessary to travel hundreds or thousands of kilometers. Beauty is all around us, just stop for a moment and look.
